Carlo Gavazzi Space SpA

Carlo Gavazzi Space SpA (CGS) is one of the main companies for space systems in Italy and has been on the aerospace market for more than 20 years.

The company, with headquarters in Milan, employs about 180 engineers and investigators and is part of a cluster of medium enterprises located in Italy, Germany and France.

It's core business is the design and development of satellites for scientific and commercial missions, unmanned space vehicles, scientific payloads, facilities and payloads for the International Space Station, Earth Observation and applications.

It has a wide experience in scientific mission planning and in design, integration and operation of several scientific experiments installed on small satellites, and high altitude vehicles.

This can be exploited in CAPANINA, where a significant role is given to validating the technology developed under the HeliNet project, and performing propagation (channel) measurements to assist the next phase, development of broadband services to high speed vehicles.

The role of CGS is to support activities related to the test campaign, and to design, integrate and operate the needed support structures.
Specifically the innovative systems studied and the specific characters of measurements to be performed, imply the need of carrying complex and delicate devices at high altitude.

This requires design and integration of several dedicated subsystems for the aerial support platform, in order to cope with all the aspects of operational environment, safety and airworthiness regulations.
